Landlord Legal Expenses
KEYLet is a specially designed Legal Expenses Policy for Landlords.
If landlords become involved in a property dispute or debt recovery, the cost of taking legal action will often result in lost profit. In many cases bringing or defending civil action to protect their interests can be extremely costly and time consuming.
KEYLet enables the policyholder to defend his/her legal rights when they need to, giving them financial peace of mind and invaluable guidance throughout

KeyLet cover:
- Property Legal Disputes
- Provides legal costs and expenses in the pursuit or defence of civil disputes relating to the letting of property owned by the policyholder, acts or alleged wrongful acts by a tenant which causes damage to the policyholder’s property and an infringement of the policyholder’s legal rights relating to the rightful occupation or ownership of the property by the policyholder.
Debt Recovery: Provides legal costs and expenses in the pursuit of an undisputed debt for rent unpaid by the policyholder’s tenant.
Attendance Expenses: Provides up to £1000 for any one claim in respect of actual loss of wages when attending court or a tribunal /arbitration hearing as a witness, or a defendant, at the policyholder’s request.
Note: The disputed amount must be more than £400 and reasonable prospects of successfully pursuing a claim must exist. All the above is subject to terms, conditions and exclusions of the policy.
MSL’s Keylet policy is underwritten by Financial & Legal Insurance Company Ltd who are incorporated in the U.K. Both MSL and Financial & Legal Insurance Company Ltd are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority and are also members of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and the Financial Ombudsman Service
Cost £52.50 per annum. Inclusive of 5% Insurance Premium Tax
Cover is subject to having your property also insured with Scrutton Bland.

To apply for cover, please print off the proposal form and return to us by post or fax for approval with MSL. Once approved we will then request payment from you for cover to commence.
